Notches
or slots in your teeth at the gumline usually indicates that your bite is
off and that the notched teeth are not aligned with the rest of your
teeth. Also, as had been assumed in years past by many, a hard
toothbrush or your brushing pattern is usually not the cause of
notching. Teeth that are under unusual pressure tend to flex, and
this flexing causes tooth structure to be shed at the gumline.
Treatment:
In
most cases the tooth will require a bonded resin filling. If the
notching is severe, the tooth may instead need to be crowned.
